Asyril decides to upgrade SmartSight with CMOS sensors

With SONY’s decision to discontinue the production of CCD sensors in 2017, Asyril has decided to upgrade their vision system with the new and more stable CMOS technology.

Why change from CCD to CMOS?

The biggest advantage CMOS offers is increased performance in your application (number of frames par second, higher resolution …) and reduced camera costs.

What do I have to consider when switching from CCD to CMOS?

Relatively little. We have already defined the best suitable lenses for your Asycube field of view. The SmartSight software compatibility is also guaranteed. The focal distance and the size of the camera are the two main points you will need to check before switching.

Where can I find information regarding the new distances?

On the SmartSight web page :

  • Information on the new distances, together with the new sizes of CMOS cameras and lenses
  • The updated CAD files
  • The Datasheet
  • The Operating Manual

How long can Asyril provide the “old” CCD cameras?

The CCD sensors will be available until early 2020. We recommend however that you make the transition as early as possible, because the CCD sensors will become more expensive in the coming years.

When does Asyril make the switch from CCD to CMOS?

Smartsight delivered as from January 2019, will be based on CMOS sensors.
